Identity Document Verification
Strengthen ID checks by scanning both sides
Identity Document Verification enhances security in Verkada Guest by validating both sides of a visitor’s ID. When enabled, visitors must scan the front and back of their government-issued ID. This allows Guest to verify the necessary information for screening.
Identity Document Verification requires the iPad’s back camera and should be used with recommended enclosures. This feature is supported for version 2.5.0 of the Guest app or newer.
Supported IDs
Identity Document Verification scans both the front of an identity document and a PDF417 QR code, typically located on the opposite side of the document. US driver’s licenses and US state-issued ID cards can be verified.

Enclosure Recommendations
Verkada Guest is compatible with Lilitab kiosks. Use Lilitab’s Kiosk Builder to easily customize your stand. For Identity Document Verification, the kiosk must include the ID Capture Accessory. Below is an example of a supported configuration:

Lilitab’s Barcode Capture Accessory and iPad ID Scan Shelf are NOT compatible for Identity Document Verification.

Configure Identity Document Verification
Choose the back camera for ID scanning
To enable Identity Document Verification, tablets in a Guest site must be configured to use the back camera.
Enable Identity Document Verification for a Guest Type
Identity Document Verification can be enabled or disabled at the Guest Type level.
Add or modify the Security Screening step.
ID Verification Workflow
Identity Document Verification is only supported for sign-ins through the Guest app.
When Identity Document Verification is enabled, visitors will be asked to scan the front and back of their ID. If either scan fails, the visitor may opt to skip the ID scanning step, which will prompt manual ID confirmation.
Guest compares the date of birth and document number on both sides of the ID. If they don’t match, staff are prompted to review the discrepancy. They can either deny the visit or approve the name and date of birth to proceed with the security screening.

Documents that cannot be verified
If Identity Document Verification is enabled but the ID can’t be fully verified (e.g., a Green Card without a PDF417 QR code), Guest can still scan the front of the ID. Staff will be prompted to review the ID information before screening and approving the visit.
