Guest Security Screening
Learn how to use the Verkada Guest Security Screening feature
To strengthen an organization’s oversight of their campuses and sites, Verkada Guest offers an optional Security Screening feature for each Guest Type defined under a specified Guest site.
Within Guest, administrators can enable additional screening across a variety of databases, allowing staff to deny entry and alert relevant personnel via email and SMS.
You must have Workplace Site Admin permissions to enable Guest Security Screening.
Configure Guest Security Screening
Currently, Guest Security Screening is only supported by organizations in the US.
Guest Types that include the Security Screening step will prompt visitors to scan their driver’s license or US or state-issued ID.
Notify Specific Reviewers
By enabling Notify Specific Reviewers, admins can enroll contacts into notifications when a visitor signing into a specific Guest Type elicits security screening results. These contacts must be Command users.
Visitor Steps for Completing the Security Screening
A guest can check in using the iPad kiosk (see list of supported iPads) or scanning a QR code on their mobile device.
The guest can then proceed with the rest of the check-in process. If the visitor is unable to scan the ID after 10 seconds they will be given the option to skip the step or continue attempting to scan.
Pinning the Security Screening step
The security screening step will retain pertinent visitor information to conduct screens for 90 days, after which this step must be completed again. The security screen will only automatically reuse information from a previous ID scan for sign-ins on the Guest iPad app. This information is retained only if the visitor opts in during the initial scan.
Privacy and data retention
The Security Screening feature maintains privacy with several strict security levels and measures.
At the user level
Guest maintains strict user roles and permissions.
Guest Administrators and Guest Site Managers have access to select the security screen feature.
Guest Site Viewers have the ability to check-in guests, view guest logs, and confirm potential matches within the Guest interface.
At the product level
Only the full name and date of birth are sent to the third-party vendor conducting the US offender search.
The third-party database provider deletes the information used to conduct the search once completed.
No imagery from Verkada cameras or the Verkada Guest kiosk is used to do biometrics searches against registered offender lists.
At the infrastructure level
All customer data is stored in Verkada’s platform.
Data is not shared across customer data sets.
All communications to the system are fully encrypted when in transit and at rest.
Security & Data
Verkada Guest saves confirmed offender records in Command for 30 days by default (1–90 days supported).
