External Response Contacts for New Alarms

Create external response contacts to be notified when an alarm is raised

External response contacts are helpful when you have users that need to respond to alarms via text or phone call but these users shouldn’t have access to Verkada Command.

External response contacts can:

  • Receive SMS notifications when an alarm is raised

  • Access the pre-authenticated incident link within the SMS

  • Receive an agent call during an alarm event

  • Resolve the alarm and disarm the site


Create an external response contact

In Verkada Command, go to All Products > New Alarms .

Select your Alarm site.

In the left navigation, click Response > Contacts to be notified by SMS.

Under Contacts, click .

Start typing the name of the external contact. If that contact is not already added or is not a Command user, an option to "Create new external contact" will appear.

a. Enter the contact’s First Name, Last Name, and Phone Number. b. Click Add.


Edit an external response contact

Response page

In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Alarms .

Select your Alarm site.

In the left navigation, click Response > Contacts to be notified by SMS.

a. Click the external contact’s name to change their first and/or last names. b. Click next to the external contact’s phone number to edit their phone number.

Admin page

In Verkada Command, go to Admin > Users.

Select the user.

Click> Edit User Info.

a. Edit their information as needed. b. Click Save.


Remove a response contact from an alarm site

In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Alarms .

Select the Alarm site that you want to remove the contact from.

In the left navigation, click Response > Contacts to be notified by SMS.

Click X next to a contact’s name to remove them as the response contact for this site.
