Create a Person of Interest from an Access User
Learn how to create a POI from an existing access control user
Verkada cameras support the ability to create a person of interest (POI) based on one or more photos of a person’s face that you choose to upload. Once you create a POI, you can view the POI page for that person to see footage from Verkada cameras where the POI has been seen. You can also set up POI alerts to send automatic notifications when a POI is seen. Learn more about POIs.
You must be a Site Admin on, at least, one (1) site in your organization to manage POIs. Learn more about roles and permissions for Verkada Command users.
Create a POI from an access user’s profile photo
If an access user has a profile photo, you can create a POI from the access user based on their profile photo. After creating the POI, it is automatically linked to the access user.
To create a POI from an access user, you must have an Access Control role in Command that allows you to view users under Access > Users and Access Groups. Learn more about roles and permissions for access control. You must also be a Site Admin on, at least, one (1) site in your organization. Learn more about roles and permissions for Command users.
After creating the POI, it is linked to the access user. The link appears on the access user’s Profile tab and on the POI page (see examples below).

Create an alert for POIs linked to access users
You can create an alert that generates notifications whenever a POI with a specific tag is seen. By default, POIs that you create from access users are assigned the Access User tag. Therefore, you can create an alert for POIs linked to access users as identified by the Access User tag:
Remove a POI from an access user
You can remove a POI that’s linked to an access user by removing the link (unlink access) or deleting the POI entirely:
