Configure Access Control Event Alerts
Learn how to configure and enable alerts for access control events
You can enable alerts for a variety of access control events, depending on your configuration needs. For more information about the access control event types see below.
To configure alerts, you must be an Access Admin and an Access Site Admin.
Configure access control event alerts
Create Alert > Events
Alerts for door opened, door held open (DHO), door forced open (DFO), or tailgating events only trigger if you have a door position indicator (DPI) installed.
Create Alert > Recipients
Any recipient added to this alert will see it appear under the Shared Alerts section of their Alerts page.
Create Alert > Notification Schedule
Click Done and continue with the alert device actions or finish the alert.
Create Alert > Device Action
In addition to notifying individuals, you can configure your horn speaker to play when an alert is triggered. These alerts can be text-to-speech or an uploaded MP3 file.
Click Done and continue with finish the alert.

Understand the various access control event types
Door events
Door Forced Open (DFO)
Access controlled or locked door is opened without a request to exit (REX) detected or a user who has been granted access.
Door Held Open (DHO)
Door is held open. In Installer Settings, you can monitor this and set how long the door must be held open before an alert is sent.
Door Opened
Door is opened.
Wireless Lock Tamper
Currently available for Assa Abloy and Allegion wireless locks. Detection includes these scenarios:
The device has been partially or fully disassembled.
Vibration or movement of the device occurs.
Access Granted
User is granted access to unlock an access-controlled door.
Access Rejected
User is denied access to unlock an access-controlled door.
Tailgating Detected
Tailgating is detected at a door by a nearby context camera.
AUX Unlock
Door unlocked using a button wired into an AUX input.
REX Unlock
Request to exit (REX) is triggered and unlocks a door. In Hardware Settings, you can configure how long to keep a door unlocked when a REX unlocks it.
Schedule Changed
Door state changed based on the door’s current door schedule, a schedule exception, or when the door is assigned a new non-default door schedule.
Low Battery
Wireless lock’s battery power is low.
Access controller events
Access Controller Offline
Access controller is unresponsive and is not working properly. See Restart an Access Controller.
Access Controller Tamper
Access controller’s enclosure lid opened.
Fire Alarm Released
Fire alarm is released.
Fire Alarm Triggered
First alarm is triggered.
Supervised Wiring Issue
Wiring cut or shorted for access controller’s DPI, REX, or AUX Input that has supervised wiring enabled with end-of-line (EOL) resistors installed.
Area events
Double Entrance Violation
Same credential used to enter an area twice without being used to exit in-between.
Double Exit Violation
Same credential used to exit an area twice without being used to enter in-between.
AUX output events
AUX Output Activated
AUX output activated in response to an activation event.
AUX Output Deactivated
AUX output deactivated in response to a deactivation event.
Other events
Lockdown Triggered
An emergency lockdown scenario is activated.
AUX Input State Changed
High signal detected for AUX input.
