Configure Two Ethernet Ports for Command Connector

Configure the second interface for Command Connectors

Command Connectors can be configured to operate using two interfaces. This allows one network interface to connect to the internet while the second one connects directly to a local camera network.

Before you begin

  • Connect the Command Connector to a network with access to Verkada endpoints using only one Ethernet port.

  • Allow it to reach Verkada Command and update to the latest firmware.

  • Ensure only one Ethernet port is connected to the Command Connector before starting the configuration.

  • If a Static IP is set, switch the Command Connector back to DHCP before configuring the second port.

Configuration

1

In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.

2

Select a Command Connector to configure.

3

On the right, click Settings.

4

Under General > Ethernet Ports, click the dropdown and select Dual.

5

The Command Connector will automatically detect and assign the currently connected port as the internet port.

Important: Ensure only the intended internet port is connected during this step.

6

By default, the second port will be set to DHCP. Select Manual to configure a Static IP for the second port.

7

Click Save to start the configuration process. (This may take up to 30 seconds.)

8

Once saved, plug in the second Ethernet cable into the Command Connector and click Verify Ports.

Troubleshooting

If you accidentally unplug the Internet port from the Command Connector, you can easily identify which port is assigned for internet access:

1

In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

2

Select a Command Connector to configure.

3

On the right, click the Settings.

4

Scroll down to General > Ethernet Ports.

5

This page shows the assigned Internet port. Reconnect the Ethernet cable to restore communication.
