Configure Your Floor Plans

Learn how to configure your floor plans in Verkada Command

Updated over a week ago

Verkada's Floorplans feature helps you plan and visualize your Verkada system. This feature can help you detect active motion to historical activity hotspots using heat maps. This feature also supports Verkada Air Quality Sensors so you can quickly view sensor data directly from the floor plan.

Create and label a floor plan

Requirements

  • The floor plan file must be a .svg or .pdf file, less than 5 MB in size, and less than 512 megapixels.

  • You must be an Organization Admin to add a floor plan.

Create a building and floor

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

  2. At the top right, click the kebab (3 vertical dots) icon and select Create Floorplan.

  3. On Create Floor Plan, select (or add) a building and/or floor, as needed.

  4. On Create Building and Floor:

    1. Enter a building name, address, and floor name.

    2. Click Create.

  5. In the list of floor plans:

    1. Find and select your newly created building and floor, and click Next.

    2. Select floor plan to upload. Supported file formats include .svg and .pdf.

    3. Click Next. If you need to use a different file, click Change File next to your uploaded file.

    4. Confirm your address and click Next.

    5. Set the location and click Save.

    6. Select the file and wait a few seconds while the file uploads.

    7. Confirm the floor plan address.

  6. Align the floor plan over the map.

Note: Delimit each floor using a comma. For example, enter 1, 2, 3 for floors 1, 2, and 3.

Label a floor plan

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

  2. Select the floor plan you want to label.

  3. At the top right of your floor plan, click the kebab (3 vertical dots) icon and select Floor Settings.

  4. Click Add New Label (Abc).

  5. Under Label Settings, give your new label a unique name.

  6. Drag and drop the new label where you want on your floor plan.

Add and remove devices

Add a device

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

  2. At the top right, click Add.

  3. Select the device(s) you want to add. We current support Camera, Sensor, and Door.

  4. Drag and place the device(s) where you want on your floor plan. After you add the device, you can then view the live feed from that device (this example uses a camera device) from the floor plan.

Notes:

  • The devices you place on the floor plan inherit the GPS coordinates from the underlying Google Map.

  • If you edit the location of a floor plan, Command prompts you to also move all cameras placed on the floor plan. The cameras will be assigned new GPS coordinates based on the new position of the floor plan.

Remove a device

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

  2. Select your floor plan.

  3. At the top right, click Device List.

  4. Select the device on the floor plan.

  5. At the top right of your device, click Remove. Depending on device, you may see Remove Camera or Remove Sensor as options.

  5. Drag the cone, representing the field of view of the camera and adjust to the desired direction.

Note: You may need to zoom in to the floor plan by clicking the plus (+) icon, as indicated in the video below, to be able to select the desired camera.

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans.

  2. Select the floor plan you want to label.
