Once you’ve plugged your device into a Power over Ethernet (PoE)-enabled device, it automatically begins to boot. You then need to add your device to your Verkada Command account. You can either do this through the Command portal or the iOS app.
User permission requirements
To add a new device to your organization, you must be one of the following:
An Organization Admin (Org Admin)
A Site Admin of the site where you add cameras
Learn more about roles and permissions for Command users.
Configure your Command website
On a desktop, laptop, or smartphone, log in to your Command account.
In Command, go to All Products > Devices.
At the top right, click Add Devices.
Enter the serial number of the devices that want to add. You can also add an entire order by entering the order number.
(Optional) Alternately, you can add devices using Scan QR or Upload CSV. If you choose to upload a comma-separated value (CSV) file, you have the option to download a template for ease of use.
When you finish entering all devices into your cart, click Add to add them into your organization.
All your newly added devices should display on Devices > Unassigned.
You can also see the device status and run firmware upgrades on devices that are in the unassigned devices list.
To move a device out of the Unassigned Devices list, you must assign it to a site and complete the setup. Devices can be set up individually or in bulk.
Copy settings from any camera in Command
When you add new cameras to Command, you have the option to copy settings from any camera in the same site and apply those settings to the new cameras.
In Verkada Command, select All Products > Devices.
From the Unassigned Devices list, select the camera you want to set up, then click Setup.
In the Set Up panel, select a site and enter a location for the camera.
(Optional) Under Settings, select the Default dropdown menu and choose a camera from the same site to copy its settings.
Click Apply to add the camera with the required configurations.
If you want to skip this step and add the cameras with default settings, click the Default dropdown before you click Apply.
Verify that your camera is online
Once you've entered or scanned your camera's serial number, the camera begins transmitting video. Typically it takes 3-4 minutes for the video stream to become visible in Command. A solid blue status light on the front of the camera indicates that it is connected, recording, and transmitting video.
If your camera doesn't connect automatically, be sure to review your Local Area Network (LAN) settings and New camera won't come online.
