Learn how to set up shortcuts to transition between adjacent camera feeds

Updated over a week ago

The Shortcuts camera feature facilitates instantaneous transitions between adjacent camera feeds, enhancing the efficiency of live investigations by allowing swift tracking of moving subjects across multiple cameras. Shortcuts are also available across our historical feeds facilitating any investigation. Shortcuts are designed to address the challenge of maintaining visual contact with fast-moving individuals or vehicles on a property with just a few clicks.

Required. You must be an Org Admin or Site Admin to create, edit, and delete shortcuts. Once created, all users with granted camera access can see the shortcuts.

How it works

This feature places navigational shortcuts directly over your camera feed, letting you hover for a preview of the adjacent camera and transition to it with a single click. The preview window is adjustable, where you can reposition it and prevent obstruction of critical scene elements. All shortcuts are bidirectional, making it easy to jump back and forth between camera views.

Manage shortcuts

Note: Site Viewers and Live Only Viewers can only see shortcuts to cameras they have access to, and can’t create, edit, or delete shortcuts. Learn more about Roles and Permissions for Cameras.

Find shortcuts

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

  2. Select a camera.

  3. To the right of the camera feed, on the sidebar, click Camera Overlays > Shortcuts .

Note: Verkada Command remembers which overlay mode (Shortcuts or Motion Search Grid) you previously selected for each camera and loads it the next time you open the camera.

Create and edit shortcuts

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

  2. Select a camera.

  3. To the right of the camera feed, on the sidebar, click Camera Overlays > Shortcuts > Setup.

  4. Select a point on the camera view to place a shortcut and choose a nearby camera to link.

  5. The point where you click on the next camera feed is where the other end of the shortcut is placed. All shortcuts are bidirectional so it places shortcuts on both the cameras.

Once the shortcut is placed, you can fine-tune its location on both ends and add additional shortcuts. Each camera feed can support up to 6 shortcuts.
