Generate a User or General Keycode
Updated yesterday

This article is a guide for new Alarms. Refer to this article if you have classic Alarms. See New Alarms vs Classic Alarms if you are unsure which version of Alarms you have.

User keycodes are associated with an individual account and have the advantage of controlling each user's permissions to arm/disarm the alarm system through their unique keycode.

General keycodes are not associated with an individual account; instead, they are given a general name and are used for one alarm site only. The objective is to create a general keycode for a group of people to use, such as janitorial staff or a master keycode in case of emergencies for that specific site.

Generate a keycode

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Alarms.

  2. Select your Alarms site.

  3. At the top, click Settings.

  4. Under Keycodes, select Add Keycode.

    1. Select User Keycode or General Keycode.

    2. Enter a unique name.

    3. Set the keycode to a specific number.

    4. Click Add Keycode.
