Note: The scenarios described in this article are for users who have logged in to the Verkada Pass app at least once in the organization where they’re configured as receivers.
Intercom permissions determine who can receive Verkada Pass calls based on site and access roles.
Receiver
All users added as Receivers have the ability to receive calls in Verkada Command and the Verkada Pass app, and unlock the door during a call.
If added as a Receiver, desk stations always get a call with video.
Exception: Only a schedule or toggling the I’m Here or I'm Away presence option on the desk station impacts if a call is routed there.
Users can unlock the door and see live feed of the configured cameras from the desk station, even if they are not on an active call.
Identify user groups
You can identify user groups by looking at their Verkada Pass symbol.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Intercom.
Select a camera.
At the top of that selected camera's footage, click Receivers.
Verify a user's eligibility for receiving Verkada Pass calls
A user who has previously logged in to Verkada Pass should have a black and white symbol. To verify, hover over the Verkada Pass symbol. The tooltip should show Pass App (as shown).
A user who is configured as a receiver and has never logged in to the Verkada Pass App should show Send Pass App Invite.
Live View Only
A Live View Only can locate the Intercom's camera and see the live stream using these paths:
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras
Note: The viewer does not have access to the lock button on the live feed (bottom right of the screen), which allows users to remote-unlock the door. For these viewers, the Intercom's camera appears like any other camera.
Site Viewer
A Site Viewer can locate the Intercom's camera and see the live stream using these paths:
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Intercom.
A site viewer can enable a schedule for more granular control. If someone tries calling outside the schedule, the Intercom rejects the attempt with a short error tone.
No access
Regardless of their access control role, a user who has No Access to the site where the intercom is added, is unable to see:
The Intercom in Command (All Products > Devices) or (All Products > Cameras).
The Intercom entry in the All Products menu.
