Users configured as a Verkada Pass App Receiver
The scenarios described in this section are for users that have logged in to the Verkada Pass app at least once in the organization for which they’re configured as receivers. You can identify these users by looking at the Verkada Pass symbol at All Products > Intercom > Receivers.
Verifying a user's eligibility for receiving Pass calls
A user that has logged in to Verkada Pass before will have a black and white symbol. Hovering over the Verkada Pass symbol will show the tooltip “Pass App”:
A user that is configured as a receiver and has never logged in to the Verkada Pass App will show “Send Pass App Invite”.
Situations when a user can receive Verkada Pass calls:
A user's ability to receive intercom calls in Verkada Pass or a browser will vary depending on how their permissions are set in Command. We have grouped them by the user's role in the site that the Intercom is in and provided a table explaining expected behavior for each access control role, whether the user should be able to unlock the door, and on which platforms they should expect to receive a call.
These two icons are used to identify circumstances under which a user should be able to unlock the door:
❌ Unable to unlock door.
✅ Able to unlock door.
Site Role: No Access
Access Role | Member | Manager | Admin |
Not logged in web browser or Pass App | ❌ No calls at all. One entry on Intercom's events: Missed Call | ❌ No calls at all. One entry on Intercom's events: Missed Call | ❌ No calls at all. One entry on Intercom's events: Missed Call |

Logged in Pass App and Web browser | ✅ Pass App call with live video access | ✅ Pass App call with live video access | ✅ Pass App call with live video access |
Regardless of their access control role, a user that has No Access to the site where the intercom is added, will not be able to see the intercom at All Products > Devices or All Products > Cameras, nor will they be able to see the Intercom entry in the All Products menu.
For the situations where the prior table says “no calls at all," the Intercom will ring briefly before disconnecting the call. The Intercom section in Command will record a Missed Call event.

They will not have access to the lock button on the live feed’s bottom right of the screen which allows users to remote-unlock the door. For these viewers, the Intercom's camera appears like any other camera.

Other Receiver Situations:
Phone Number as a Receiver
When configuring a phone number receiver type, the site and access permissions will be bypassed. You can, however, enable a schedule for more granular control. If someone tries calling outside the schedule, the Intercom will reject the attempt with a short error tone.
The phone number receivers will only get a voice-only regular phone call from one of the number listed at All Products > Intercom > Call > Intercom phone number.
Desk Station as a Receiver
Similar to the phone number receiver, the desk station will always get a call with video. Only a schedule or toggling the “I’m Here” / ”I'm Away” presence option on the Desk Station itself will impact if a call is routed there.
At this time, Pass App calls are not supported for Android users.
