ENGAGE Series Wireless Lock Integration

Learn how to configure and set up the Schlage Engage lock series for online/offline use

Updated over a week ago

What's included

The Schlage ENGAGE series of locks contains the NDEB, LEB, and LE wireless lock sets. The LEB and LE are mortise locks, while the NDEB is cylindrical.

What you need to know

  • This integration supports the NDEB, LE, and LEB lock series.

  • NDE locks are not supported; they are outdated and use old Secure Socket Layer (SSL) standards.

  • Verkada's integration supports both online and offline modes with the Schlage locks.

  • For an online integration: all door events, user updates, schedule updates, and so on are available in real-time through a connection between the lock, the Gateway (GWE) hub, and the AC41/42.

  • For an offline integration: all door events, user updates, schedule updates, and so on are published in Verkada Command every 24 hours, unless forced to sync through the Allegion mobile app.

For details and more information about how to set up ENGAGE locks or set up a GWE Hub, refer to Schlage Resources.

Installation Guides

You have 2 ways to integrate the ENGAGE series of locks:

  • Online integration—The online integration allows the lock to remain online and check in with Verkada Command frequently. This means that the ENGAGE series online integration supports real-time communication, such as remote unlock or lockdowns.

  • Offline integration—The offline integration allows the lock to remain offline and check in with Command once every day. This means that the ENGAGE series offline integration does not support real-time communication, such as remote unlock or lockdowns. Real-time updates are available for tamper events and door forced open events.

Online integration

You must be an Organization Admin to perform this integration. If you are not an admin, contact an Organization Admin to be granted this role.

To set up the online integration:

  1. Log in to the organization that you would like to install the lock-in.

  2. Open the Access tab.
You must have at least 1 access controller in your account to see the Access tab.

  3. In the left menu, navigate to your devices.

  4. Select Add Device.

  5. Type your AC41/42 Serial Number and click Activate.

  6. On the Add Access Controller dialog, ensure that the AC41/42 is in Schlage mode.

  7. Navigate to the AC41/42 and click Add Door to configure a door.

  8. Select the NDEB/LE/LEB door type. Contact Verkada Support if the option to add Wireless - NDEB/LE/LEB does not appear.

  9. Enter the corresponding GWE hub address and lock address you configured in the ENGAGE app.

  10. Provide a name for the door, configure sites, settings, and so on.
The door should pair and appear in your Doors list. The battery and connectivity status should also appear.

Offline integration

You must be an Organization Admin to install ENGAGE WiFi locks. If you are not an admin, contact an Organization Admin to be granted this role.

To set up the offline integration:

  1. Log in to the organization where you want to install the lock-in.

  2. On Verkada Command, go to the All Products menu and select the Access tab.
You must have at least 1 access controller in your account to see the Access tab.

  3. At the top right, select Manage Sites.

    1. If the site that you want to add Engage WiFi locks to does not exist, click Add to create it. If it does exist, select Settings.

    2. If you can see the site, but not the settings, it means you're not a Site Admin for the given site. Click Admins to make yourself a Site Admin and add yourself.

  4. Under Site Attributes, select Allegion Engage WiFi Locks. If you can't see this, contact your Verkada representative. They need to enable the beta feature for your organization.

  5. Verkada Sites are mapped 1:1 with the Sites in the ENGAGE app. If someone in your org has not already created a matching site in the ENGAGE app, the UI shows Create Site. Click this button to create the matching ENGAGE site, and invite yourself to it.

    1. If someone else in your organization has already created this site, you will see Invite instead. Click this button to invite yourself as a Manager of the Engage site.

You have now created an "Engage Site", and you should have received an email with an invite to the ENGAGE app.

  6. Click the Accept This Invite link in the email to go to the ENGAGE portal, where you can create an ENGAGE account or sign in if you already have one.

  7. Download the ENGAGE app from the iOS or Android app store.

  8. Sign in to the ENGAGE app using the same email/password that you set up previously.

  9. You should see an Engage Site with the same name as your Verkada Site. Select Engage Site to add devices to that site.

  10. Go to the Devices tab and select the plus (+) symbol to begin adding Engage Wi-Fi devices. Go through the flow to add your NDE or LE device. When asked if you want to use Site Defaults, select Yes.

  11. Make sure you set the server to the following (make sure the server address is as pictured):

Note: As of July 5, 2022, there is a new server address for all Schlage wireless locks that connect to Verkada.

  12. Once you have finished adding your device to the ENGAGE app, return to Verkada Command and click Sync to pull the newly registered devices into Command.

You should now see your Engage device under the Devices tab (on the right). (You may need to refresh the page to see the new device.)

  13. Select the Engage device to see the single door associated with it. You can manage this door in the same way you would a door that is registered to an AC41/42.

The Engage Wi-Fi devices do not immediately sync with the server.

  14. Optional. Force an update: open the ENGAGE app, select the device, and click Update From Server.

All ENGAGE Locks appear as a door in the interface. For each door, the connectivity status should display.
