Learn how to set up, view, modify, share, and delete your sensor dashboards

Verkada’s Air Quality Sensors dashboards enable you to easily, view, analyze, and display sensor data across all of your sensors within your environments on a smart display or status screen. You can easily access these dashboards from an external device through the air quality dashboard live links. You can also share and pair dashboards to any browser compatible device.

With the use of different tiles, you can add multiple view types to pages within your dashboard and automatically cycle through them within Verkada Command or with a monitor.

The hierarchy for sensor dashboards is dashboards > pages > tiles. You can have multiple dashboards in your organization, each of which can contain multiple pages and each page can contain multiple tiles.


Set up your sensor dashboard

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Air Quality.

  2. On the left panel, click Dashboards and at the top right, click Add Dashboard.

  3. On Create your dashboard, give your dashboard a unique name to easily manage this dashboard later.

  4. You can then start customizing your dashboard with various settings described below.

Add sensor tiles

  1. On your newly named dashboard, click Add Sensor Tiles.

  2. On the Tiles slide-out page, select and add tiles. You can add up to 6 tiles per page, including these options, where you can view:

    • Time-Series Line Graph—Live and 24 hours of historical data for a single sensor reading

    • Sensor Readings—Multiple, live numeric values from a single sensor device

    • Metric—Single aggregated metric across sensor devices

    • Gauge—Color value relative to customizable thresholds

    • List—Table of aggregated metrics across sensor devices

  3. Give your tile a unique name.

Choose the layout for your tiles

  1. (Optional) Add more tiles to your dashboard, or click Layout to choose the best layout for your tiles, and click Done.

  2. Rearrange the tiles (drag and drop), as needed.

  3. (Optional) Delete a tile: Hover over the tile and click Delete Tile.

Set up your page

  1. Give the page a unique name.

  2. At the bottom right, click Show this page for 15 seconds to adjust how long you want the page to display when viewing in full-screen mode. Choose from 10s, 15s, 30s, 1m, and 5m intervals.

  3. On the left panel, click the plus (+) icon to add more pages to your dashboard. You can have up to 10 pages. Repeat the steps from above to set up additional pages.

Rearrange or remove pages

  1. Next to the page name, click Delete to remove pages.

  2. Once you've finished setting up your pages, click Done.

Customize data settings

  1. Select the sensor(s) to monitor (you can filter by site name or by the sensors name).


    Note: Some tiles allow you to select multiple sensors and some only allow you to select one.

  2. Once selected, at the top left, click Customize Data.

  3. Choose which sensor readings to display and adjust the thresholds, as needed (select-drag the numbers around).

    1. For Temperature, click °F and choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.

    2. Customize your settings, as needed, and click Done.

View a sensor dashboard

Note: You must have already set up a dashboard to view one.

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Air Quality.

  2. On the left panel, click Dashboards and at the top right, click Add Dashboard.

  3. Select a dashboard to view.

  4. On your selected dashboard, at the top right, click View.

  5. You should see the window in full screen mode and then to the sensor dashboard view mode, where you have the option to view:

    • Dashboard and page names (at the top left).

    • Time and timezone (at the top right).

    Note: The data displayed updates every one (1) minute. This is a default setting and cannot be changed. Pages rotate based on the preset time you configured in the setup flow.

  6. At the top right, click X to exit or press the esc key on your keyboard.

Share a dashboard

Dashboard sharing utilizes the same robust and secure system implemented in camera live links.

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Air Quality.

  2. On the left panel, click Dashboards and (optionally) at the top right, click Add Dashboard.

  3. Once you have created a new dashboard or selected one from the dropdown, at the top right, click Share.

  4. You should see the option to create a new dashboard link for a set duration of time. The longest permitted expiration (at this time) is 52 weeks. When you're ready, click Create to have your link's management bubble populate below. Other options that you can do:

    • Rename a link and see the time till expiration.

    • Click Copy Link to copy the link to your clipboard.

    • Click Send Link to share the code via email, SMS, or by contact.

    • Click Pair TV to pair the link to a smart display.

Manage shared links

You can manage shared links, just like cameras, as follows:

  1. in Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

  2. Under Org Settings, scroll to Manage Shared Links.

Alternatively, for quick access within the dashboard, go to Manage Shared Links > Share to redirect you to this page.

Pair a dashboard

Dashboard pairing allows for the rapid deployment of Air Quality dashboards on smart TVs and displays that otherwise would be difficult to send a link to or type on with a keyboard. Pairing works by sharing a Live Link based on a successful synchronization, as described above.

Note: Pairing a dashboard is currently only supported in US-based organizations.

Recommendation. Anyone with access to the link (within the address bar of the dashboard) can open the dashboard on a different device. Ensure that the URL is hidden, by default, within your smart device, or hidden on full screen should this be a security concern to you.

  1. You can pair a dashboard using one of these options:

    • At the top right of the dashboard, click Pair.

    • Within an already created live link, click Pair.

  2. If not already specified (as noted above in Share a dashboard), you should see the option to create a new dashboard link for a set duration of time. The longest permitted expiration at this time is 52 weeks.

  3. On your smart display navigate to vkda.co/pair.

  4. You should see a 5-character code generated on the screen. You must enter the code into the pairing prompt in Command before it expires.

  5. When you've entered the code, click Pair. Your display should then redirect you to your Air Quality dashboard link.

Manage your dashboard link

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Air Quality.

  2. On the left panel, click Dashboards and at the top right, click Add Dashboard.

  3. Once you have created a new dashboard or selected one from the dropdown, at the top right, click Share to see the corresponding live link that was created.

Alternatively, you can manage the link using this method:

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.

  2. Under Org Settings, scroll down to Manage Shared Links to see the corresponding live link that was created.

Delete a sensor dashboard

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Air Quality.

  2. On the left panel, click Dashboards .

  3. Under Actions, click Delete.

  4. On Delete Dashboard, click Delete again to confirm. This cannot be undone.

FAQs

Who can create, edit and remove a dashboard?

Org Admins can create, edit, and remove dashboards. They must also be a Site Admin for the sites where the sensors are located. If you don't have Site Admin permissions, you can't view the tiles created in the dashboard. Learn more about the Roles and Permissions for Air Quality Sensors.

Who can view a dashboard?

A Site Viewer can view dashboards; however, they can only see the sensors in their site(s). If they don't have permission to view a sensor in the dashboard, the value is be empty.

You can also share and pair dashboards with live links just like cameras. See Manage shared links (above).

Note: Verkada supports multiple dashboards per organization. Dashboards are created per organization, not per user.

How often does the dashboard data update or refresh?

The data that is displayed on the dashboard updates every one (1) minute. This is a default setting and cannot be changed.

Can I share my dashboard publicly?

Yes! You can now share dashboard with live links just like cameras. See Manage shared links (above).

How do I display the dashboard on a larger screen?

To display the dashboard on a larger screen (TV or monitor), there must be a computer connected to the display, and that computer must be logged in to Verkada Command. From there, you can navigate to the dashboard and click Live, which will display the live view on the connected display.

Do the sensor tiles integrate with a Verkada Viewing Station or camera grid?

No, at this time, the sensor tiles and dashboard are standalone.

Can I add cameras to my sensor dashboards?

Currently, you can only add sensor information to sensor dashboards.
