Floorplans help you plan and visualize your Verkada system. This feature can help you detect active motion and historical activity hotspots using heat maps. You can connect cameras, air quality sensors, and access-controlled doors so you can quickly view your devices directly from the floorplan.
Create a floorplan
Required. You must be an Organization Admin to add a floorplan.
Create a building and floor
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
At the top right, click and select Create Floorplan.
In the top right, click Add Building.
Enter a unique name.
Enter the building address.
Enter the floor name.
Click Create to finish.
Note: To create multiple floors, delimit each floor using commas. For example, enter 1, 2, 3 for floors 1, 2, and 3.
Create a floorplan
Required. The floorplan file must be:
a .svg or .pdf file
less than 5 MB in size
less than 512 megapixels
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
At the top right, click and select Create Floorplan.
On Select Building and Floor:
Select a building and floor.
Click Next.
On Upload File:
Click Browse and select your floorplan file from your computer.
Click Next.
On Enter Address:
Enter the address associated with your floorplan.
Click Next.
On Set Location:
Orient and size the floorplan to match your building on the map.
Click Save.
Manage floorplans
Add a device
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
In the top right, click Add.
Select the type of device you want to add.
Note: We currently support cameras, (air quality) sensors, and doors on floorplans.
Drag and place the device where you want on your floorplan.
The devices you place on the floorplan inherit the GPS coordinates from the underlying Google Map. If you edit the location of a floorplan, Command prompts you to also move all devices placed on the floorplan. The devices will be assigned new GPS coordinates based on the new position of the floorplan. If you change a camera's location from the camera's settings page it will remove it from the floorplan.
Remove a device
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
In the top right, click Device List.
Hover over the device and click .
Click Remove [device type].
Click Remove to confirm.
Edit building settings
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
At the top right, click and select Floor Settings.
Under Floorplan, click Edit and edit your floorplan settings as needed.
Reposition a device
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
In the top right, click Device List.
Hover over the device and click .
Once the device icon turns blue, click and drag the device to the position.
Rotate a camera view
The direction of a camera's field of view does not always match the direction shown on the floorplan. If this is the case for your floorplan, you can manually set the orientation of the camera icon for greater accuracy.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
At the top right, click Device List.
Click next to the camera you want to rotate.
Drag the cone , representing the field of view of the camera and adjust to the desired direction.
Label a floorplan
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
At the top right, click and select Floor Settings.
Under Add New Label:
Select Abc for a bold label.
Select Abc for a regular label.
Under Label Settings:
In the Text field, enter the text for your label.
Drag and drop the label where you want it on your floorplan.
Floorplan icon colors
Blue: Device selected
Green: Online
Orange: Offline
Delete a floorplan
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Floorplans .
In the top left, select your floorplan from the dropdown.
At the top right, click and select Floor Settings.
Under Floorplan, click Delete.
Click Confirm to delete.
