Verkada CR63-E Remote Camera FAQs
This FAQ answers questions about the CR63-E camera and compares it to standard bullet cameras, cellular gateways, and the MT81 security trailer. It helps you choose the best deployment option based on power availability, camera count, and overall cost efficiency.
Choose the right solution
When would I use a CR63-E instead of a standard bullet camera?
The CR63-E is optimized for deployments where continuous power and internet are not readily available. If the camera is being deployed in a location where both power and internet are readily available, a standard bullet camera will deliver identical results at a lower cost.
When would I use a CR63-E instead of deploying a cellular gateway with Verkada cameras?
The CR63-E is optimized for single-camera deployments where continuous power is not readily available. If continuous power is available and there is a need to deploy multiple cameras, a cellular gateway paired with standard Verkada cameras will deliver identical results at a lower cost.
When would I use a CR63-E instead of a MT81 security trailer?
The CR63-E is ideal for single-camera or more discreet deployments. The MT81 security trailer allows you to deploy multiple Verkada cameras in a single place and provides powerful deterrence with its visibility and optional addition of a horn speaker.
Trial, purchasing, warranty, and returns
Can I trial the CR63-E?
Yes, you can trial a CR63-E. The trial includes a solar panel and a solar panel mount.
The ACC-POLE-1 (pole) or ACC-BAT-430WH-E-1 (external backup battery) are not included in the trial.
How do I determine the correct CR63-E installation and/or accessories for my deployment?
See the Verkada Power Accessories webpage for more information
When will the CR63-E be available outside of the United States?
The CR63-E launch is slated for international markets in 2026.
Does the CR63-E require a special camera license?
The CR63-E requires a standard camera license. If you wish to use the included Verkada SIM card, a data plan license is also required. If you bring your own SIM card, no additional license is required.
What is the warranty?
The CR63-E camera, ACC-BAT-430WH backup battery, and ACC-POLE-1 pole have a 5-year warranty.
All other related products (e.g., solar panel, solar panel mount, etc.) have a 10-year warranty.
Can I return the CR63-E and accessories?
The CR63-E and its accessories may be returned under Verkada's return policy. The ACC-POLE-1 may not be returned.
Installation
How can I mount the CR63-E?
You can surface mount the CR63-E with the included mount plate, or you can use the included pole mount and straps to install on a pole. See the install guide for more information.
How many cameras can the ACC-POLE-1 support?
For the ACC-POLE-1 setup, we recommend using only one complete CR63-E camera package. This setup includes:
1 x CR63-E camera
1 x ACC-MNT-SOLP-1 mount
1 x ACC-SOLP-100W-1 solar panel
Up to 2 x ACC-BAT-430WH-E-1 batteries
What is the point of the visor?
The included adjustable visor helps reduce sun reflections on the camera lens.
Can I bring my own solar panel mount?
Verkada's solar panel mount can accommodate the solar panel and up to two external batteries. You can also opt for a different solar panel mount if it better fits your requirements.
How do I install the pole?
This is a direct burial pole designed for installation in the ground using concrete. Learn more here.
Can I install the camera on a tree?
Our camera can be installed anywhere; however, we do not recommend installing it on trees. If necessary to install on trees or palms, consider adding padding and increasing the strap's surface area. Be aware of potential failures due to tree growth over time.
What pole size can the CR63-E mount to?
The CR63-E includes both small pole straps (for poles 1.9"-3.2" in diameter) and large pole straps (for poles 3.3"-6.0" in diameter). As long as the pole diameter falls within these ranges, no additional mounting hardware is needed. For larger poles, you may use banding straps to support the installation according to our installation guide.
Is the CR63-E's base mounting plate identical to the base mounting plate for bullet cameras?
Yes, the base mounting plate included with the CR63-E is identical to the base mounting plate included with Verkada bullet cameras.
Power
General
How can I see the power status for the CR63-E?
In Command, click into the camera and then select Analytics below the live feed.
Hardwired
How can I charge the CR63-E indoors?
You can use the ACC-ADAP–54V power supply to charge the CR63-E and the external backup battery using the DC adapter that is included in the CR63-E box.
How do I charge the CR63-E with the passive PoE pigtail?
The passive PoE pigtail is designed to be used with Verkada's AC Pole Tap accessory.
An active PoE cable will not work with the passive PoE pigtail.
How do I convert active PoE to passive PoE?
Although it is possible to convert Active PoE to Passive PoE with 3rd party devices, this is not recommended as these devices are not common. We recommend Verkada's 54V Power Supply in combination with the DC adapter for charging indoors.
Can I provide power and internet to the CR63-E using active PoE?
No, the CR63-E can only be powered using 47-54V passive PoE.
Solar
What are best practices for maintaining my solar panel?
Solar panels should be cleaned periodically to remove accumulation of snow or debris, which will limit or prevent charging.
Batteries (internal & external)
How long can the CR63-E last on its internal battery alone?
For a standard setup, the CR63-E is expected to last between 18 to 24 hours. Battery life can vary due to factors such as environmental temperature, motion levels in the scene, and camera feature usage.
Connectivity
What carriers do you support?
See the CR63-E datasheet for carrier information.
Can I bring my own SIM card?
The CR63-E supports the use of your own SIM card, similar to the Verkada Gateway.
Is one SIM card required per CR63-E (vs. one SIM per gateway, which supports 2 cameras simultaneously)?
Yes, each CR63-E requires its own SIM card.
Tech specifications
See the CR63-E datasheet for more information.
How does the CR63-E's zoom capabilities compare to standard and telephoto bullets?
The CR63-E has a focal length range of 5.9mm to 13.3mm, which is between the CB62-E's range of 2.8mm to 8mm and the CB62-TE's range of 8mm to 20mm. This gives the CR63-E better zoom capabilities than standard bullet cameras but less than telephoto bullet cameras.
What is the operating temperature range for the CR63-E?
See the CR63-E datasheet for more information.
What is the field of view of the CR63-E?

Government Solutions deployments
Do I need a CR63-E to take advantage of Verkada's NCIC integrations, or can I leverage any Verkada camera?
Any LPR-enabled Verkada camera can be used to take advantage of Verkada's NCIC integrations. Note that NCIC integrations are only available to law enforcement customers in select states and require a Government Solutions Command organization. For more information on Verkada's NCIC offerings, see this document.
Will my non-FIPS-validated CR63-E still be able to leverage Verkada's NCIC integrations?
Special permission can be granted to customers who wish to deploy the CR63-E within a Government Solutions Command organization. Customers must ensure compliance so that Government Solutions is only necessary for NCIC reasons. For further assistance, contact [email protected].
