Verkada optimizes video streaming on devices connected to cellular gateways with smart data usage.
With smart data usage:
Camera live streams will default to standard quality (SQ). Users can manually switch to high quality (HQ) if needed.
Camera thumbnails are displayed on grids and viewing stations when no motion is detected. The cameras will begin streaming video once motion is detected.
Additional optimizations will continue to be added to facilitate more efficient cellular data usage.
Disable smart data usage
Smart data usage is enabled by default. You can disable this feature when you bring your own data plan.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Gateways
.Select a gateway.
In the top right, click Settings
.Under Device, turn off Smart Data Usage.
Note: Smart data usage cannot be disabled when using the Verkada data plan.
