Customize Guest Deny Lists

Learn how to custom deny lists in Verkada Guest

Updated yesterday

Deny lists are designed to help further strengthen the capabilities of our existing security screen capabilities. Within Verkada Guest, administrators can import a custom deny list of individuals to be denied entry to their site.

This is ideal for safeguarding cases, such as:

  • Restraining orders

  • Complex custody arrangements

  • Disgruntled former employees

  • Trespassers

Set up custom deny lists

Custom deny lists are defined under a specific Guest site.

Required. To edit a custom deny list, you must have Guest Administrator or Guest Site Manager permissions.

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Guest.

  2. On the left navigation, click the Settings (gear) icon.

  3. Scroll down to Sites and select a site where you want to set up a customized deny list.

  4. Scroll down to Deny List and click Manage deny list.

  5. On Import Deny List:

    1. You can Upload CSV of the users you want to deny.

    2. To format the CSV, click Download an example CSV to see what Verkada Guest expects the file to look like. See the tables for required and optional fields.

    3. Upload the completed CSV to the import deny list.

Required

Description

first_name

First name of the guest you want to deny. If available, add a middle name in first_name field in the form "John Michael".

Optional

notes

Additional notes can be shared with the receptionist if a suspect matches an entry in the deny list.

Validate suspect match

If there is no match, a guest can continue with the check-in process as usual. Should there be a potential match, Verkada Guest prompts the front desk personnel to review the event.

Denied entry

If a guest is denied entry to the site, the iPad kiosk:

  1. Displays a Denied Entry message.

  2. Notifies specific contacts, as configured in the site's settings. Notes: To change these settings for a particular Guest site, go to Settings and select the site you are working with.

  3. Scroll down to Staff Notifications where you can also see Denied Entry.

    1. You can choose who should be notified when important events occur for the designated site.

    2. You can choose who should be denied entry when important events occur for the designated site. This option replaces the post check-in messages to inform the guest that they have been denied entry.

Note: If your organization has multiple Guest sites, be sure to set these settings for each Guest site.
