Add your Wi-Fi Gateway to your Verkada Command account

The GW31-E Outdoor Wi-Fi Gateway makes it simple to deploy Verkada anywhere with power and Wi-Fi, including hard-to-wire locations such as parking lots, fence lines, and outdoor premises.

You must create a Verkada Command account and log in with Org Admin permissions to activate and configure a gateway.


Claim your gateway

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.

  2. On Devices, at the top right, click Add Devices.

  3. Enter or scan the gateway’s serial number.

  4. Once added, you can find the device in the Unassigned Devices site.


Set up your gateway

Command

The gateway needs to connect to a WAN uplink via the PoE IN port to enable Wi-Fi setup from Command.

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Devices.

  2. Under the My Unassigned Devices site, select your Wi-Fi gateway.

  3. Under General:

    1. Enter a unique name.

    2. Select a site.

    3. Enter a location.

  4. Under Wi-Fi:

    1. Select your Wi-Fi network.

    2. Enter the network credentials.

    3. Click Apply.

  5. Remove the gateway from the WAN uplink.

Bluetooth (Command app)

Bluetooth is only discoverable from the Command mobile app.

  1. Open the Command mobile app and log in to your organization.

  2. In the top left, click Add Device.

    1. Scan the QR code or enter the serial number.

    2. Click Add Devices.

  3. Click Set Up Gateway.

    1. Under General:

      1. Enter a unique name.

      2. Select a site.

      3. Enter a location.

    2. Under Network:

      1. Click Select Wi-Fi Network.

      2. Select your Wi-Fi network.

      3. Enter the network credentials.

  4. Click Done.

Local server page

  1. Connect the gateway to your laptop/computer with an Ethernet cable.

  2. Open your browser and enter verkadagateway.com or 192.168.1.1 to open the local landing page.

  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to reach the local server page.

  4. The device will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select the network you want to connect to and enter the credentials.

  5. Click Apply.

The local server page stays open for 5 minutes before it automatically refreshes.
