Set up a Brother printer for Verkada Guest and Mailroom

Updated over 2 months ago

The Brother QL-820NWBc is a monochrome label printer supported by Verkada Guest and Mailroom. This is a thermal printer and requires thermal label rolls. To print labels automatically, the printers can be connected to the iPads through several different methods.

Unbox a Brother QL-820NWBc

Brother printers ordered directly from Verkada will include a new Brother QL-820NWBc in the manufacturer’s packaging. This package will also include a sample black/red on white roll, but the ACCX-LBL-PRT-1 black & white label rolls are recommended.

  1. Remove the printer from the box.

  2. Prepare the coin cell battery. This battery is used to maintain settings for the internal clock. While the printer is off:

    1. Open the roll compartment cover.

    2. Remove the insulation seal on the coin cell battery.

  3. Insert the label roll.

    1. Open the roll compartment cover.

    2. Insert the roll into the roll spool guide.

    3. Fit the end of the roll through the printer.

    4. Close the roll compartment cover.

  4. Assemble the power adapter.

    1. Insert the adapter’s DC connector into the printer.

    2. Insert the AC cable connector into the adapter.

    3. Plug the AC cable into a grounded outlet.

  5. Power on the printer. A solid green status light will confirm that the printer is properly powered.

It is recommended to place the QL-820NWBc on a flat surface.

Set up the printer’s network connection

QL-820NWBc printers can be connected to wireless networks. The Brother QL-820NWBc only supports connections to 2.4 GHz wireless band. To connect your printer:

  1. Use the arrows to navigate to WLAN (5/7) > WLAN (on/off) > select On and press OK.

  2. Under WLAN (5/7), use the arrows to navigate to Infra Manual Setting. The printer will search for nearby SSIDs.

  3. Use the arrows to select the desired SSID and press OK.

  4. Type the password if required. Switch between uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters using the Menu button. When finished, press OK.

  5. The printer’s IP address can be found by navigating to WLAN (5/7) > WLAN Status > Infrastructure Mode.

Alternatively, you can use an ethernet connection to connect the printer to the network.

  1. Ensure the printer can be connected to a wired network.

  2. Connect the printer to the wired network via an ethernet cable.

  3. The printer’s IP address can be found by navigating to Information (3/7) > Print Configuration > All.
