Two-Tone Printing for the Brother Printer
Print in red and black with a Brother QL-820NWBc printer
The Brother QL-820NWBc is a monochrome label printer that uses thermal label rolls to print badges. Brother offers a unique roll that supports both black and red printing on a white background. This allows Verkada Guest users to print badges with red and black using Brother printers.
Requirements
Load the printer with the Brother black/red on white roll (DK-2251). Refer to this guide for instructions on loading label rolls.
A tablet running the Guest app is online and connected to the Brother printer with the DK-2251 roll installed.
Design a badge with a border
Basic designer
Follow the steps in Design a Visitor Badge in Guest.
Under Border Color, check the red or black box.

Border color, border style, and orientation can be connected to a badge design rule using Basic Designer.
Advanced Designer
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Workplace > Guest.
On the left navigation, click Guest Settings.
a. Under Organization > Guest Types, click Manage Guest Types. b. (Optional) At the top, select Sites and select a site to create a visitor badge for a Guest Type in an individual site.
Select the desired Guest Type.
Click on badge settings.
Select Advanced Designer.
Select content and choose a color.

Border Color, Guest Name, Site Name, Host Name, Date, Guest Responses, and custom text can be colored red.
Considerations
Black/red on white rolls print slower than black on white rolls, even for badges that do not feature red content.
If a badge has red content but the printer is not loaded with a black/red on white roll, the content will default to black.
