Verkada Data Plan

Learn more about Verkada's data plan for the GC31 Cellular Gateway

Updated over a week ago

Verkada takes away the challenge of working with cellular carriers with the Verkada data plan, which works out of the box in many countries worldwide. Customers also have the option of bringing their own data plan to use with the GC31.

How it works

The Verkada data plan uses the Verkada SIM card that is pre-inserted in every cellular gateway that is shipped to customers. The plan offers unlimited data (no throttling) for Verkada devices, multi-carrier redundancy, and 24/7 support.

Verkada video devices

To get data for Verkada video devices, which include cameras and intercoms, you must purchase a data license per device that will be connected to the GC31. For specifics on data license pricing, see the Gateway datasheet.

Note: The CH52-E Multisensor needs four data licenses as it consists of four camera heads.

You can link and unlink your data licenses to particular devices connected to the GC31 through the data licensing page on your Verkada Command platform. Any video device connected to a gateway will be automatically linked to a data license if available.

Note: Cloud backup and RTSP are disabled on cameras that use the Verkada data plan. Customers can enable these features if they bring their own data plan.

Verkada non-video devices

Other Verkada products, such as access controllers, sensors, and alarm devices, do not require a data license. As long as the gateway has a valid cloud license, the Verkada SIM will provide unlimited data for Verkada non-video devices.

Note: Video streaming is disabled on BK11/21 Alarm Keypads and BC82 Alarm Consoles that use the Verkada data plan. Customers can enable video streaming if they bring their own data plan.

Third-party devices

While the Verkada data plan is meant for Verkada devices, we provide a small amount of data for third-party devices connected to the gateway. The Verkada SIM will provide 1GB/month of data in total for third-party devices as long as the gateway has a valid cloud license. If the gateway is using a customer-provided SIM, third-party devices are not subject to any limits.

Note: VX52 Viewing Stations and iPads running Verkada Guest or Desk Station apps are classified as third-party devices as they run on Apple devices.

Supported carriers

The Verkada SIM has the ability to connect to multiple carriers across different regions, as listed below.

Note: In the US, the Verkada SIM will default to Verizon and failover to AT&T or T-Mobile if needed.
