CJIS Support Status

Verkada works with law enforcement and criminal justice agencies in certain states that require access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) via the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. To enable this access, Verkada follows FBI and state requirements that protect the security and integrity of criminal justice information (CJI).


CJIS compliance process

The CJIS Security Policy is a detailed framework of requirements that agencies and vendors must follow to protect criminal justice information. It addresses areas such as personnel security, data encryption, and physical safeguards. To access CJI or NCIC in a given state, Verkada must comply with both FBI and state-specific CJIS requirements, including:

Background checks

All employees with unescorted access to CJI must complete state and federal fingerprint-based background checks in each state where Verkada seeks CJI/NCIC access. Access is granted only after these checks are successfully completed and clearance is confirmed.

Signed security addendum

Verkada signs a CJIS Security Addendum with each agency customer before enabling access to CJI/NCIC in Verkada Command. This agreement commits Verkada to maintaining a security program that meets federal requirements.

State-specific requirements

Many states have additional requirements for customer access to CJI/NCIC. Verkada works with the CJIS Systems Officer (CSO), Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC), and Local Agency Security Officer (LASO) in each state to meet these requirements.
