Trials, purchasing, & returns

When should I buy a Verkada trailer vs. a third-party trailer with Verkada cameras and gateways?

The MT81 is a cloud-managed, streamlined solution with a standard configuration that works across the United States. We strongly recommend reviewing our two Verkada-Validated Configurations and selecting whichever one better meets your needs for your trailer solution. A customer’s security requirements, budget, and weather forecast will all impact what the best solution is for them. We fully support our ecosystem of Verkada partners to offer tailored solutions for these needs.

Will Verkada service my trailer?

Trailer servicing and warranty field installation is handled through the Verkada partner network.

Who is Wanco?

Wanco is the manufacturer Verkada partners with to build the MT81 trailer.

Third-party modifications

Can I mount third-party devices on my Verkada trailer?

Customers may use third-party cameras, gateways, and devices, but mounting compatibility isn’t guaranteed. Third-party devices can’t be monitored in Command, have limited data on the Verkada data plan, and may reduce trailer battery life and uptime.

The MT81 trailer is not compatible with Verkada Command Connectors. Command Connectors are typically used to monitor 3rd party cameras in Verkada Command but are only recommended for indoor environments.

Command management

How do I add the MT81 or the attached Verkada devices to Command?

MT81s are commissioned into command similar to any other Verkada device.

Do all of the Verkada devices mounted on the MT81 need to be in the same organization and site?

Not all devices mounted on the MT81 are required to be in the same org, however we strongly recommend all devices are in the same org to ensure a seamless user experience.

Can I add third-party trailers to Verkada Command?

Trailer management in Verkada Command is exclusively available to the MT series.

Power and battery

What do I do when my battery runs out and I can’t charge via solar?

You can plug your trailer into an outlet using the male AC port.

Can I monitor battery usage in Command?

Yes, current and historical battery charge percentage is available on the stats page in Command.

Can I provide supplemental power to the MT81?

Yes you can connect shore power or a generator to the trailer to add supplementary power. This is most helpful in times of low sunlight where you may not get a full battery charge during the day. Set up power alerts to be notified if your trailer is running low on battery power, so you can connect supplementary power to ensure consistent device uptime.

How long will the charge on my battery last on a single charge?

  • Battery lifespan depends on the number of devices on your trailer and the weather.

  • For most configurations - including VVC1 and VVC2

    1. MT81-6KWH will last >2 days without additional charging

    2. MT81-13KWH will last > 4 days without additional charging

What is the MT81 battery lifespan?

These lithium ion batteries have a warranty period of 5 years.

If a customer buys the 6KWH version and needs a higher capacity, are they able to buy more batteries?

We have a path to upgrade batteries. Contact your account rep or [email protected]
