Learn how to mount a Verkada SV20 Series Air Quality Sensor

Updated over a week ago

Verkada SV20 Series Air Quality Sensors (SV21, SV23, SV25) can be mounted in up to 4 different configurations. The specific configuration depends on your installation constraints and which sensor readings you find most meaningful.

Sensor Reading

Mount Type

Recommendation

CO₂ Monitoring

Wall mounting at heights around 3–6 ft (.9–1.8m) from the floor will provide the most accurate measurements, due to the density of CO2 compared to fresh air.

Keep sensor at least 5 ft away from any doors or operable windows.

Air Quality Monitoring & Vape Detection

Ceiling mounting, no more than 8–9 ft (2.4–2.7m) from floors, walls, or ceiling vents for the best performance in measurements. If the height is increased, detection will decrease.

If air quality is not an intended use case, you can mount the device at other heights or orientations. However, this can significantly impact accuracy.

If placed in a bathroom, 1 sensor per 2 stalls is recommended. At least 3 ft (.9m) from vents or walls.

What's included with your SV20 series sensor

  • The LED turns white to indicate the sensor is active.

It may take a few moments for the LED to power on.

Ceiling mount options

Option 1

  1. Cable the exit through the surface.

  2. Pull the Ethernet cable through and connect it to the port.

Option 2

  1. Cable exit along surface.

  2. Plug in the the cable.

  3. Loop the cable through the internal cord management feature.

  4. For both methods, place the sensor onto the mount plate and engage the hooks to secure.

  5. Ensure that all 4 hooks are probably connected and that all edges of the sensor are flush against the mounting plate.

  6. Secure the sensor: Tighten the security screw using the provided T10 Torx security screwdriver.
