# Set Up Your CR63-E for Remote Deployment

Use this guide to prepare your CR63-E for reliable performance before and after installation.

## **Stage before deployment**

Because the CR63-E is designed for remote locations, staging the device in advance helps prevent issues in the field.

* **Register and power on indoors**
  * [ ] Add the camera in Verkada Command
  * [ ] Connect to power using the ACC-ADAP-54V AC/DC adapter
  * [ ] Allow the camera to fully check in and complete firmware updates
  * [ ] Confirm live stream and history are available
  * [ ] Charge to 100% before deployment
* **Charge external battery (if applicable)**
  * [ ] Connect the ACC-BAT-430WH-E-1 to the camera
  * [ ] Charge both the camera and the external battery to 100% while connected to power using the AC/DC adapter

{% hint style="warning" %}
Starting with a partial charge can cause the camera or the external battery to go offline before the solar panel can sustain it.
{% endhint %}

## **Solar panel angle**

Proper orientation is critical for consistent charging.

* Face the panel **south** (Northern Hemisphere)
* Avoid shading from trees, buildings, or other obstructions

As a general rule, set the tilt angle to approximately match the latitude of the installation location. For deployments in the US:

* **Summer:** \~30°
* **Winter:** \~45°
* **Fixed year-round:** \~40°

{% hint style="info" %}
A steeper angle during winter improves exposure to lower sun angles and helps prevent snow buildup.

## **Solar panel maintenance**

Keeping the panel clean is one of the simplest ways to maintain consistent charging performance. Dirt, dust, and snow accumulation can significantly reduce output even if the hardware is functioning correctly.

* Clean the panel periodically with a soft cloth or sponge and mild soapy water. Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.
* Do not use abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, or pressure washers.
* Clear snow from the panel as soon as possible after snowfall.
* Periodically check that the panel is not being newly shaded by tree growth or other structures that may have changed since installation.
* Inspect the panel surface for any cracks or physical damage and ensure all mounting hardware remains secure, especially after high winds or severe weather.
