# Configure Video Out Display

Learn how to setup the in-vehicle video monitor

The Verkada Transportation Gateway sends live camera video to an in-cab display. Choose which cameras appear and how to arrange them, from one full-screen view to a grid of up to four cameras. You set the layout in Verkada Command, and it stays in place until you change it.

{% hint style="danger" %}
The video display is not a backup camera or a blind spot monitor. Do not use it to judge distance or clearance while reversing or maneuvering. The display does not replace mirrors, direct observation, a dedicated rear visibility system, or any procedures your agency requires of drivers.
{% endhint %}

***

### Feature overview

The display gives drivers a live view of the boarding door, the passenger aisle, and the area around the vehicle while it is stopped. Use it to increase situational awareness during stops and loading.

* Show 1–4 live camera views on one screen
* Set the layout and camera order remotely in Verkada Command
* Use any vehicle-powered monitor with a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) input

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.verkada.com/transportation/configuration/configure-video-out-display.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `build a script that syncs our docs to a CMS` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
