# Brother Printer Setup Guide

The Brother QL-820NWBc is a monochrome label printer supported by Verkada Guest and Mailroom. This is a thermal printer and requires thermal label rolls. To print labels automatically, the printers can be connected to the iPads through several different methods.

## Unbox a Brother QL-820NWBc

Brother printers ordered directly from Verkada will include a new Brother QL-820NWBc in the manufacturer’s packaging. This package will also include a sample black/red on white roll, but the ACCX-LBL-PRT-1 black & white label rolls are recommended.

**Remove the printer from the box.**

**Prepare the coin cell battery. This battery is used to maintain settings for the internal clock. While the printer is off:**

a. Open the roll compartment cover.\
b. Remove the insulation seal on the coin cell battery.

**Insert the label roll.**

a. Open the roll compartment cover.

b. Insert the roll into the roll spool guide.

c. Fit the end of the roll through the printer.

d. Close the roll compartment cover.

**Assemble the power adapter.**

a. Insert the adapter’s DC connector into the printer.\
b. Insert the AC cable connector into the adapter.\
c. Plug the AC cable into a grounded outlet.

**Power on the printer. A solid green status light will confirm that the printer is properly powered.**

It is recommended to place the QL-820NWBc on a flat surface.

## Set up the printer’s network connection

QL-820NWBc printers can be connected to wireless networks. The Brother QL-820NWBc only supports connections to 2.4 GHz wireless band. To connect your printer:

**Use the arrows to navigate to WLAN (5/7) > WLAN (on/off) > select On and press OK.**

**Under WLAN (5/7), use the arrows to navigate to Infra Manual Setting. The printer will search for nearby SSIDs.**

**Use the arrows to select the desired SSID and press OK.**
{% endstep %}

**Type the password if required. Switch between uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and special characters using the Menu button. When finished, press OK.**

**The printer’s IP address can be found by navigating to WLAN (5/7) > WLAN Status > Infrastructure Mode.**

Alternatively, you can use an ethernet connection to connect the printer to the network.

**Ensure the printer can be connected to a wired network.**

**Connect the printer to the wired network via an ethernet cable.**

**The printer’s IP address can be found by navigating to Information (3/7) > Print Configuration > All.**
