## Compliance & Data Protection

#### Devices

Verkada's Government Solution offers FIPS-validated devices to meet the U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard [(FIPS) 140-2 encryption standard](https://csrc.nist.gov/pubs/fips/140-2/upd2/final), as validated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

#### Licensing

To access a Government Solutions Command organization, you must have valid Government Solutions licenses for every device in your organization. Verkada licensing is applied for each Command organization, and the licenses co-term to a single expiration date. See [Government Solutions Licensing](https://help.verkada.com/government-solutions/compliance/government-solutions-licensing) for more information.

## Configuration & Network Settings

#### Permissions

Assign different permission levels to users in your organization based on your organization’s security needs. Permissions can be assigned at the organization and site levels for each product line to give each user the exact level of access they need. See [Roles and Permissions for Command](https://app.gitbook.com/s/NRq5qDDjsYNxwNzF1bcB/users-and-permissions/roles-and-permissions-for-command) for more information.

#### Single Sign-On (SSO)

SSO allows you to log in using a third-party authentication service, such as Okta and Microsoft Entra ID. This method provides a single point of management for authentication across multiple applications, including Verkada Command. See [Single Sign-On (SSO)](https://help.verkada.com/government-solutions/single-sign-on-sso) for more information.

{% hint style="info" %}
Verkada recommends enabling OIDC instead of SAML when available.
{% endhint %}

#### Network Settings

Verkada devices are designed to be plug-and-play. However, if your environment includes a firewall with custom rules and policies, you may need to make some configuration changes to get your devices connected to the cloud. See [Required Network Settings](https://help.verkada.com/government-solutions/required-network-settings) for more information.

## Events & Alerts

#### NCIC Alerts

Exclusive to Government Solutions, this feature enables law enforcement agencies to receive real-time alerts when a license plate entered into the NCIC hotlist is detected by a Verkada LPR camera. While currently available in select states, coverage is expanding to all 50 states soon. See [Enable NCIC Alerts](https://help.verkada.com/government-solutions/events-and-alerts/enable-ncic-alerts) to get started.
