Use a PoE Switch with the GC31-E to increase the power and number of ports for downstream devices

Updated over a week ago

You can use a PoE switch with the GC31-E to increase the power and/or number of ports for downstream devices such as Verkada cameras. We recommend following this topology:

In this topology, the customer-provided PoE switch sends power to the GC31-E’s PoE In port and gets LTE data back from the same port. To enable this setup, you need to change the PoE In port configuration to LAN.

Change PoE In port configuration to LAN

Note: This configuration is only available on the GC31-E outdoor gateway

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Gateways .

  2. Select the gateway you want to configure.

  3. In the top right, click Settings .

  4. Under Network > Connection, select Local Area Network (LAN).

Note: The PoE IN port on the GC31-E is set to WAN by default.

  5. Click Apply, then Confirm to save.
