Adding a Printer to Verkada Guest

To add a printer you user account must either be a Guest Admin or Guest Manager. Once you account has the appropriate permissions you will be able to begin adding a printer through your assigned Guest tablet.

Adding a Printer through the Tablet Interface

To add a printer you first need to note the pin code which is used to enter the settings menu on your assigned Guest tablet. To find the pin code go to your site settings from the drop down in the upper right corner of the Guest dashboard.

Once on the site settings page you should see "Printers" on the left hand side of the page or you can scroll down to the Printers section.

While on the Printers page you will see the PIN code used for entering the settings menu on your assigned tablet to add a printer.

To enter the settings menu on your printer, just tap and hold the bottom right hand corner for about three seconds to bring up the PIN pad. Enter your PIN pad and you will be brought to the print settings page which will enable you to choose what printer you want to add.

Tap "Connect to a Printer" to show your list of printers - once you have the correct one selected you will be good to print.

Once the printer is added you should now see which tablet the printer is assigned to be looking in the Tablets section of your site settings and you will see the chosen printer in the Printer section of your site settings.

Supported Printers

Although Verkada Guest supports label printers that use Apple AirPrint, two officially of the supported models are:

  • Brother QL820-NWB

  • Brother QL1110-NWB

Printer Troubleshooting

Unable to Add Printer to Guest App

If you are unable to find the printer that you intend to add to Verkada Guest we recommend the following:

  • ensure that you are using a supported printer

  • ensure that your printer is on the same wifi network or wired network as the tablet, to check what network the tablet is on, go to settings

  • plug in your printer on the wired network to ensure that it is getting a connection to the LAN

    • after ensuring that you printer is on the same wired or wifi network we recommend rebooting the printer

  • if the printer is on the same network, wired or wireless, as the tablet and you are still unable to see the printer we recommend reaching out to your printers support to continue troubleshooting

Unable to Print Badges

In this scenario either the printer is not printing as expected or the "Print Badge" button is greyed out as shown below.

To check the status of the printer you can use the Printers page in the site settings and then select the printer in use, this will show the status of the printer that you are using.

  • We should first start by ensuring that the printer is plugged in

  • Once the printer is plugged in, verify the network that the iPad is on and ensure that the printer is on the same network by plugging in the printer directly on the LAN

  • if the printer is on the same network, wired or wireless, as the tablet and you are still unable to see the printer we recommend reaching out to your printers support to continue troubleshooting

Note: If these steps do not resolve your issue, you will need to contact to your printer manufacturer for further assistance.
