Verkada's D30, D50, CD51, CD61, CB51-E, and CB61-E cameras are equipped with a varifocal lens to zoom and focus. Optical zoom is meant to adjust the field of view during installation, not for continually adjustments. To zoom in on live or historical view you'll want to use digital zoom.

Note: Zooming or focusing a camera requires site admin permissions

How to adjust optical zoom

Go to the Cameras page and select the camera you'd like to adjust. The zoom setting is located on the menu option on the lower left of the camera's video player.

Click the Optical Zoom menu option — a horizontal slider will open.

To zoom the camera lens in, click/drag the slider toward the + end of the slider on the right. To zoom the camera lens out, click/drag the slider toward the - end of the slider on the left. To close the zoom slider, click the x on the far right.

Note: that it may take 30-45 seconds to fully complete the zoom adjustment and auto-focus cycle. If you need to adjust the focus manually, select that option under the same menu on the lower left of the screen.

Auto Focus

Fix blurry image with Auto Focus

A camera will attempt to intelligently focus on several regions automatically. In the event an image is blurry, rerun auto focus to bring the image into focus.

  1. Click on the camera
  2. Click to open the menu options in live player
  3. Select Auto Focus
  4. Wait while the camera intelligently focuses the image

Fix blurry image with Custom focal point

If the image is still blurry after running Auto focus or you want to select a certain object as the focal point, you can set a custom focal point.

  • Click on the camera
  • Go to INFO > Settings
  • Choose Auto Focus
  • Choose Custom
  • Select a point in the image where you want the camera to auto focus

Manual focus

  • Click on the camera
  • Click to open the menu options in live player
  • Select Manual Focus
  • Use the slider to manually focus the camera
  • Wait a while the camera focuses the image

Zoom and Focus

If none of the above work, try zooming in slightly and then run the auto focus feature.

  • Click on the camera
  • Click to open the menu options in live player
  • Select Optical Zoom
  • Click the plus button on the far right twice
  • Wait for the optical zoom to adjust
  • Run the auto focus by clicking the auto focus button in the live player options menu
  • Wait for the auto focus to finish
