Learn how to change a video quality for live video

Updated over 3 months ago

When viewing a live feed, you can manage the video quality in a couple of ways:

  • Toggle the video quality:

    • Standard Quality (SQ) provides a shorter delay and uses less bandwidth.

    • High Quality (HQ) has better image quality, but uses more bandwidth and has a greater delay than SQ.

Select a camera's live video quality

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

  2. Select the camera you want to view.

  3. In the bottom left of the live stream, select Video Quality and select/switch between SQ and HQ, as needed.

Set the default live stream

  1. In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Cameras.

  2. Select a camera site.

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Click Default Cloud Live Stream Quality and select SQ or HQ.

Compare the live feed bitrate

Bitrates vary by camera model and whether you are streaming in SQ or HQ. See Bandwidth Consumption & Uplink Requirements for Video for the bitrate value per model and video quality.
