The D40 uses the accelerometer, which incorporates the force of gravity and any other potential position-altering effects, to determine the physical orientation of the camera when it’s installed on a wall. 

The camera will be able to automatically rotate the image to compensate for whatever degree of rotation is necessary, eliminating the need to make physical adjustments to the mounting of the camera.

Enable Auto-Leveling

  1. Click on a camera
  2. Click on Settings
  3. Click Orientation
  4. Check the box for Auto-Level
  5. Click Save
  6.  Wait a few seconds, the camera will level the image
