Verkada systems store all of their system data in the cloud, leveraging AWS cloud services, and Backblaze for the storage of cloud backups in Australia (AU), United States (US), Canada (CA), and the European Union (EU).
Note: Verkada cannot move data that is stored locally in the default image and video data location without a customer's consent and cooperation. Learn how Verkada manages and processes data.
Important. When you first created your organization, if you selected Europe as your data processing location, then the option to set a default data location is not available. All data types will default to Europe.
In Verkada Command, Org Admins can set the default image and video data location for their organization as follows:
Sign in to an Org Admin account.
In Verkada Command, go to All Products > Admin.
At the top, click Privacy & Security > Data Residency.
Next to Default Image & Video Data Location, click the dropdown and select the desired region for your data to be hosted and processed during org creation: US, European Union (EU), Canada (CA), and Australia (AU).

Thumbnails | In the cloud, the Verkada system stores thumbnail images related to the camera’s settings and status, including time and network connectivity.
Thumbnails are briefly stored in camera memory before being uploaded to the cloud.
Note: This data remains in the cloud as long as the camera retention or extended cloud backup retention allows. After this period, the Verkada system automatically deletes the oldest thumbnails. | ◉

Set per-camera image and video data location
In Verkada Command, from the Admin tab, Org Admins and Site Admins can set individual cameras to different data storage locations, if desired.
In Command, sign in to an Org Admin account or an account with Site Admin privileges to the desired site.
At the top left, click All Products > Cameras.
On the Cameras page, select the desired camera.
At the bottom right of the camera live feed, click the Settings (gear) icon and open the camera's settings page.
On the settings page, select Privacy.
To the right of Data Storage Location, click the dropdown and select the desired region (US, EU, CA, AU) for your data to be hosted and processed. The Org Default is US.
Note: The location does not apply to authentication and analytics features, which are processed in the US.
