With Grids, you can create and customize an array of up to 9 live camera feeds for live video monitoring. To get started, hit the Grids button on the top right of Command

To create your first Grid, click the "+ Add Grid" button on the top right of Command

To add a camera to your Grid, select its checkmark. Once selected, the camera will show up in the Grid above.

When you're done adding cameras, click the "Done" icon on the right.

Note that each Grid can display up to 9 cameras on a single screen. If you add more than 9, the Grid will cycle through multiple screens every 30 seconds. You can change screens by clicking the arrows at the bottom of the Grid.

We have enabled Local streaming to our users whereby the video monitoring grid is exclusively locally streaming (rather than via Verkada's cloud). If local connection is available and the grid is set to SD, the grid will default to SD - LOCAL to conserve internet bandwidth. You can verify Local connectivity if the camera has a green circle with a white boarder, as shown below. More information on how to setup local streaming can be found inside this article.

A few important notes:

  • Users will only see cameras in Grids for which they have view permissions

  • Each video stream defaults to Verkada's SD stream, which consumes 300 to 600 kbps per camera, depending on camera model

  • When set to HD stream, each camera consumes 1 to 3 mbps per camera, depending on camera model

  • Grids are a per user basis. Each user will need to create their own personalized grid

Finally, if you're looking for recommended equipment and configuration for a public view monitor (PVM) use case, please speak with us or your Verkada partner.
