# Find an Access Controller Serial Number and MAC Address

When you install or troubleshoot a Verkada door controller, you may need to find the serial number or the Media Access Control (MAC) address of the controller.

## Find an AC41 serial number and MAC address

Here are 2 ways you can find the serial number and MAC address of the Verkada [AC41](https://docs.verkada.com/docs/door-controller-ac41-datasheet.pdf) door controller:

* On a sticker label inside of the access controller's case. Open the door on the front of the AC41 and look for the sticker on the bottom right, directly under the cable management compartment.
* If it has previously been checked into Verkada Command:\
  Go to **All Products** > **Devices**. Select the device to view the serial number and MAC address in the device details panel.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.verkada.com/access-control/installation/access-control-deployment-best-practices/find-a-serial-number-and-mac-address.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
