Mobile NFC - Add Verkada Badge to Apple Wallet
Verkada offers the ability to make use of Apple Wallet credentials to unlock your Verkada Access Controlled doors.
Verkada supports secure mobile NFC credentials via Apple Wallet, allowing employees to unlock doors with a tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch. Before users can add the mobile credential Mobile NFC needs to be enabled on your Command organization.
Apple Pay is not supported globally. If you are not in a supported region, you will not be able to use this feature.
What you need
An iPhone or Apple Watch that is compatible with Apple Wallet. We support:
iPhone XS and up
Apple Watch Series 4 and up
A Command account with Mobile NFC enabled.
The latest Verkada Pass app version installed on your iPhone.
Configure Two-Factor Authentication
You must configure 2FA on your iOS device to use your employee badge in Apple Wallet. Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Tap Turn On Two-Factor Authentication. Then tap Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
See Apple’s Two-Factor Authentication guide for more information.
Add to Apple Wallet
Users are allowed a badge on 1 iPhone and 1 paired Apple Watch. If you lose access to one of these devices, contact your system administrator to reset your Apple Wallet badge.
Log in to the Verkada Pass app. If this is your first time using the Verkada Pass app, you should receive an email from your administrator with a download link.
Congratulations! Apple Wallet is now prepared and set up for your iPhone!
Add credential to Apple Watch
When you add the Apple Wallet credential to your iPhone, it will automatically sync to your paired Apple Watch. If your Apple Watch isn’t paired, the Add to Apple Wallet option will reappear in the Verkada Pass App once you pair it, allowing you to add the credential to your watch.
Express Mode
With Express Mode you use your Apple Wallet credential without unlocking your phone. This also allows you to use the reserve battery for the NFC credential.
If your administrator has required phones to be unlocked at the door in order to badge in, Express Mode will be overridden. You will be required to unlock your phone and present it to a reader to gain access.
All users, regardless of credentials, need the appropriate access levels assigned in order to open doors. If there is a door you cannot unlock, please reach out to your system administrator to ensure you have the appropriate permissions.
Remove credentials
If Express Mode or the Verkada badge are no longer needed, you can disable or remove them from your device.
Disable Express Mode
Remove Badge
If you need to re-add your NFC badge, simply go back to the Pass app, and follow the steps listed under Add to Apple Wallet. If that fails, you may need to reach out to your system administrator to ensure you still have Apple Wallet credentials.
Troubleshooting
Verify the following items if you are experiencing issues with Apple Wallet unlock:
